Azaan has already been through so much!
He has Joubert’s Syndrome (a rare and life-limiting brain disorder), Cerebral Palsy, scoliosis (curving of the spine), hypotonia (decreased muscle tone) and severe kidney disease. He’s also blind and tube-fed. Azaan has been a fighter from birth when he needed 7 minutes of CPR to start his heart. He’s been battling ever since with many close calls, and there are more battles to come.
At the time of writing this in September 2021, Azaan is 5 years old and has just been on holiday to Calvert Trust Exmoor with his mum, his brother and Azaan’s carer. The break almost didn’t go ahead as Azaan had an emergency hospital visit, but luckily he was well enough to attend before another long period of treatment and kidney dialysis.
It was a pleasure to have Azaan and his family at the centre, and we cross our fingers that he can visit again one day.
Asia, who is Azaan’s mum, very kindly helped create this guest story.
