With a large selection of boardgames and a quiz catered specifically to our visitors needs, you’re in for a fun night of giggles, skill and knowledge building, alongside some good old healthy competition!

What could be more picturesque than taking an evening stroll down by the serene waters of Wistlandpound Reservoir? Well, your evening entertainment could be just that.

Perfect for wearing out those with high energy and boosting those with lower energy with the magic of fresh air and nature. Explore the pine forests and the paths around the reservoir with your instructor and group, even with little tasks or challenges along the way for those of you needing extra stimulation before a good night’s sleep.

The fun all starts when DJ Ronnie & Rosie get the party started with an evening of great music, dancing and a lively atmosphere in our barn. They play a mix of mondern tunes, childhood classics for the adults, and strive to play song requests from everyone.

Note this is a typical disco environment, with louder music, singing, dancing, and flashing moving lights in a darkended room. It may be overstimulating for some, however Ronnie and Rosie can make adjustments for whole groups or individuals so everyone can take part. Please speak to the reception team or your Course Director in advance if you have concerns about overstimulation.

A common favourite among our guests is the Exmoor Zoo Visit, where a member of Exmoor Zoo staff will bring a selection of animals, from creepy crawlies to cute little meerkats.

They’ll talk to you as a group and individually about each animal, with lots of opportunities to touch or hold the animals for a truly unforgettable interactive experience.

Whether you’re a seasoned player or a newbie, Bingo Night promises fun and a chance to clickety click (66) and connect with others!

Led by local artists, enjoy craft evenings at Calvert Exmoor: from painting to sculpting, it’s perfect for all skill levels. Unleash your creativity and socialise with other guests while doing so at our Creative Arts evenings.

A new addition to our Evening Entertainment options: our ‘Grounds Map Quiz’. This exciting adventure tests your navigation skills as well as your ability to communicate with your team as you explore the Calvert Exmoor site, answering a question at each labelled checkpoint and returning to your instructor to receive points for your team.

There’s nothing more wholesome than sitting around an open fire, comforted by nature and friends. Our campfire sessions intend to warm you to the core, whether it’s an introductory session on your first day to meet and connect with other guests or a space for reflection at the end of your stay. Sometimes, it could even be a good old-fashioned campfire sing-song!

The perfect teamwork activity: each team will be given a ‘Calvert Scavenger Hunt’ checklist by the instructor. Each item on the checklist is worth a particular number of points and you must bring the item back to the instructor each time to receive those points.

Some of the tasks involve using your imagination and engaging with your inner child silliness.

The team with the highest number of points by the end of the session wins!

Just what it says on the tin: a selection of team games, from unihoc to 5-aside football, among other options, we’ll find something you’ll all enjoy!

A highlight of many guests’ stays is our Calvert Olympics. Often considered the silliest of our evening entertainments, leaving everyone in stitches.

The Calvert Olympics, while it’s catered to the younger audience, by no means has an age limit. If you miss the fun of sports days and want to embrace your inner child, this is for you. From energiser games that use pure creativity and wit to simple but suitably challenging relay races like the old-school egg and spoon race, it’s bound to leave you all sufficiently exhausted in the best way.

With the beautiful space of the Acland Room, which has sofas, armchairs and a flat screen TV mounted on the wall, we put on a Movie Night almost every week. There’s a huge array of DVDs to choose from, from animated family fun to action-packed adventures. You can also buy sweets and crisps from our shop for the full experience!
