Hey! An important message from the Equestrian Centre…

Click to play

This December, Calvert Exmoor is proud to join the Big Give Christmas Challenge, aiming to raise £27,000 in just one week to fund essential care for the horses at its Equestrian Centre.

These funds will go toward new horseshoes, foot care, bridles, rugs, saddles, field maintenance, and critical veterinary services, ensuring that the horses can continue their life-changing work throughout 2025. Thanks to the generous support from Rotary Club of Barnstaple Link and The Reed Foundation, each public donation will be DOUBLED, making every contribution go twice as far.

To raise awareness and support for this campaign, Calvert Exmoor is inviting the North Devon community to participate in a festive challenge – a ‘walk’ from Land’s End to John O’Groats around Wistlandpound Reservoir.

From 3rd to 10th December, staff, volunteers, riders, and members of the public will attempt to complete 440 laps around the reservoir, with each lap symbolising part of the journey across the UK.

Calvert Exmoor is calling on friends, local businesses, and the wider community to join in, complete laps, raise funds, and spread the word.

We kindly ask you to donate to this very special campaign – thank you.

Become a Calvert Exmoor hero

If you agree that everyone should have the opportunity to take part in outdoor adventure activities, enjoy fulfilling breaks without being excluded or restricted, make new friends, develop new skills, improve their well-being and build self-confidence, please show your support with a donation.

Every gift will help:

  • Fund our life-changing activities
  • Purchase new equipment
  • Provide much-needed funding to subsidise the cost of everyone’s visit
  • Raise money for our bursary scheme: helping those who are financially disadvantaged access our breaks
  • Cover the costs of the general upkeep of the centre
  • Care for the horses and ponies who live on site
  • And much more

Thank you for your ongoing kindness.

Where donations could go

Whether it’s upgrading, maintaining or replacing, our activity equipment, by its very nature, is used so often and is so crucial to our work that we must raise money to cover these costs.

From mobile hoists and accessible beds to swimming pool filters and room refurbishments, the Calvert Exmoor facilities are in frequent need of maintenance, improvements and sometimes even replacement.

As a charity, we subsidise the rates our guests pay, but still pay the full expenditure associated with their stay. This includes costs such as staff salaries, energy bills, catering cost and insurances, among others.Aerial view of the Calvert Exmoor centre and Wistlandpound Reservoir surrounded by green hills

We have a Calvert Exmoor Bursary Scheme, whereby guests who are financially disadvantaged can more easily access our services, by applying for a bursary with us. We raise money to allow this scheme to run successfully.
