Rosie is a new addition to Calvert Exmoor, arriving in late 2023. She and Pixie joined as a pair from a nearby home in Combe Martin, which is just down the road from us.
Rosie is used to getting her own way and needs people and horses around her to feel comfortable, and it’s clear how precious her relationship is with Pixie.
She is very willing, kind-natured and loves to be groomed. She has the perfect temperament to be ridden by Calvert Exmoor guests, but she hasn’t had much practice in the past. We plan to take it easy with Rosie and introduce her to regular riding to build her confidence. By the time guests join us for 2024 breaks, Rosie will be ready and raring to go.
We’re still learning much about Rosie whilst she adapts to life at the Calvert Exmoor Equestrian Centre, but there is one thing that’s really obvious: she loves food and isn’t fussy about what she eats.
We can’t wait to see how Rosie progresses and we’re confident that you’ll be seeing her in riding sessions throughout 2024 and beyond.

Rosie, like all the horses and ponies who live at Calvert Exmoor, is very special to us and the guests who meet her.
With your sponsorship, the equine friends, staff and volunteers at Calvert Exmoor can help children ride for the first time, offer the chance for adults to overcome their fear of horses, increase personal growth and learning through riding, and allow people in wheelchairs to take the reins to drive a horse and carriage.
Each animal costs nearly £8,000 every year to ensure they receive the very best care and attention.
From just £30 a year you can contribute towards the care of your favourite pony or horse. In return, you will receive:
