Leaving a Legacy

Whether you’re requesting donations at a funeral, in lieu of flowers or making an in memoriam donation through a gift in a will, these gifts make the world of difference to those with disabilities…

We are always touched by the generosity of people who leave something to us and no matter how large or small this gift is, 100% of it will go towards the important work we do.

Leaving a Gift in your Will

Leaving a gift in your Will is a great way you can leave a lasting legacy of support to Calvert Exmoor and we are always touched by the generosity of people who leave something to us. After making provision for those family or friends that you leave behind, you make be in a position to make a donation to the charity which will be free of inheritance tax. No matter how large or small your gift is, it will be used to benefit people with disabilities, and to help them achieve their full potential.

Things to note when making a will…

  • Contact a solicitor

We strongly advise you to contact a solicitor if you are considering leaving us a gift in your Will. A solicitor will be able to advise you on everything you need to consider, advise you about tax relief, trusts and restrictions and ensure your intentions are clear and will handle the whole process for you.

  • Types of legacies: Residuary Gift

This is a gift in which you bequeath to us either the sole or a proportionate share of the net balance of your estate after all taxes, duties and legal fees have been paid and dispensed. Generally, a residuary gift will keep its value better than a gift of a fixed sum of money.

  • Types of legacies: Specific Gift

This could be a property or anything else you think may be of value to us once you are gone.

  • Types of legacies: Reversionary Gift

This will make a provision to a named person in your Will during their lifetime, after which you can ask that the remainder of the bequeathed estate is passed to Calvert Exmoor.
