APRIL 2023 UPDATE
A message from Sophie, stables supervisor at Calvert Trust Exmoor…
“I would like to thank everyone who donated to the large horse appeal.
I am also thrilled to update you on the exciting journey we have embarked on to bring a new horse to our centre.
We started this journey in September, with six-time Olympic rider Mary King championing the appeal and calling for donations towards the purchase of a new horse. I’m pleased to say that the response has been phenomenal.
An outstanding £7,000 has been raised and we are extremely grateful for the generosity of those who donated to reach this amount.
I have thoroughly enjoyed searching for a horse. I have spoken with many kind and lovely people and met a few horses who showed potential.
However, none of them have been right for our environment and for the guests we welcome to the stables.
Nevertheless, the journey continues. We will find a suitable horse, and the donations received will make this possible.
At Calvert Trust Exmoor, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy accessible riding, regardless of age or ability. We continue to provide this daily, and a new horse will enhance the experience. Whether our riders are overcoming their fears to take the reins for the first time, enjoying the novelty of a horse-drawn carriage ride, or experiencing the therapeutic benefits of spending time with these sensitive animals, the new horse will make all the difference.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone for being a part of this thrilling journey with us. We simply couldn’t do it without your support!
