Discovery Community Fund awards Calvert Trust Exmoor bursary funds
Discovery Learning Disability Support – who support people with learning disabilities and autism in Somerset – and their Discovery Community Fund, have generously awarded Calvert Trust Exmoor £10,000 to be used for bursaries.
These bursaries provide financial aid to those with autism and their families in Somerset when booking a holiday at the centre.
They awarded funds to seven charities and community projects in Somerset and the surrounding area, and it’s a privilege to be a part of the chosen seven.
Via a Discovery news listing, they recently shared this text about the funding…
“We are delighted to announce the first round of grants from the Discovery Community Fund have been awarded to seven community groups, totalling almost £90,000. The fund, managed by Somerset Community Foundation, aims to support improvements to the health and independence of adults with learning disabilities and autism right across the county of Somerset. It is the result of a partnership between Discovery and Somerset County Council.
Luke Joy-Smith, Managing Director at Discovery, said: “We want to use this fund to help people to live a full and active life and the first seven community groups will certainly do that, with a range of exciting and valuable activities. We are looking forward to seeing what these groups can do with their funds and to launching the next round of awards in September.”
One of the groups to benefit, Calvert Trust Exmoor, was awarded £10,000 worth of bursaries so that people with learning disabilities can attend their activity centre in Exmoor National Park. Mike Gray, Chief Executive Officer at Calvert Trust Exmoor, said: “We’re delighted and very grateful that Discovery has made this generous grant to our bursary fund. It means that we can give more of the county’s residents with learning disabilities and autism the opportunity to visit and benefit from taking part in our challenging, adventurous activities.”
Here at Calvert Trust Exmoor, everyone thanks Discovery and the Community Fund for such generous funding.
With £10,000 waiting for Somerset residents, if you know someone with autism or learning disabilities who would love a trip to Calvert Trust Exmoor, along with their family or friends, let them know about our bursary option.
What does the bursary funding mean for our guests?
Bursaries are available so you can receive financial aid to help cover some of the cost of your time at Calvert Trust Exmoor.
Whilst this Discovery Community Fund bursary is available to those living in Somerset with autism or learning difficulties, we can award bursaries to any guests from around the UK who wish to apply (depending on financial situations).
Bursaries are applied for when booking a stay at the centre in Devon, call 01598 763 221 to discuss the details further.
